Toronto, Canada (March 4-6, 2013) – Lone Tree Remote Camps, LLC (dba Lone Tree USA) attends the PDAC 2013 for the first time and finds it educational/valuable in promoting its crew camp services to the mining industry.
PDAC International Convention, Trade Show & Investors Exchange is the world’s leading Convention for people, companies and organizations in, or connected with, mineral exploration.
The four-day annual Convention held in Toronto, Canada has grown in size, stature and influence since it began in 1932 and today is the event of choice for the world’s mineral industry. In addition to meeting over 1,000 exhibitors, 30,369 attendees from 125 countries, it allows you the opportunity to attend technical sessions, short courses as well as social and networking events. At Lone Tree, we set high standards and celebrate our successes in temporary housing and hospitality services. Because caring for our clients is crucial, we expect the best in ourselves and from our employees. Teamwork is the key to our culture. We pride ourselves in meeting the challenges of each day with professionalism, while having fun at the same time. Diversity and creative ideas are important to Lone Tree. We visited multiple booths and networked with many companies to begin exploring ways in which we might add value.
We found the Tradeshow to be highly organized, informational, and accessible in the heart of beautiful Toronto. It was helpful to have the sections of the tradeshow divided into portions: The Trade Show Floor and the Investors Exchange Floor. Lone Tree found both floors to be focused on different initiatives. The Investors Exchange Floor seemed to be focused on Exploration projects and mining opportunities while the Trade Show Floor focused on the servicing of these mine projects. Lone Tree found developed some excellent contacts in each. It was noted that the services were varied and the mining opportunities were mostly pre-feasibility stage.
Lone Tree USA wants to especially thank the major sponsors: Teck, GoldCorp, Barrick, and IBK Capital Corp. for helping make such a gathering possible. We also wanted to send a shout out to a few of the booths that were especially insightful including: Design Shelter Inc., Braeval, Merit Consultants, Boart Longyear, Barrick, Xstrata, rePlan Inc., Chesapeake Gold Corp., Coventry Resources, Camese, Newfoundland-Labrador government, Weatherhaven, Worley Parsons, Fugro, Tetra Tech, and Trevali.
We found out there is significant activity happening both on the east and west coasts of Canada, South America, Mexico, and quite a few hotspots in Australia, Africa, and Asia. Lone Tree was extremely impressed with the international element of the show. The government booths were quite helpful in showing the mapped areas of interest and who the contacts might be.
Gold had dropped below $1560/oz. during the course of the show and that seemed to be a preoccupation on everyone’s mind. Thankfully it has since risen back up to market levels of near $1600/oz. once again. Gold exploration seemed to dominate the show. It was interesting to bump into many experts who have spent 30-40 years (essentially an entire career) in the gold industry. If you want education, this is the trade show to attend!
The Convention program received upon arrival was helpful in mapping out individual booth locations and event activities. Although Lone Tree did not get the chance to attend many of the courses or presentations, we heard these were well prepared. It will be something to look forward to participating in when attending the PDAC 2014!
